Dr. Waguespack began practice in August 1980 at the Eye Care and Surgery Center in Baton Rouge, La. Dr. Waguespack directed the Contact Lens Clinic and performed primary eye care, pre- and post-op cataract care and a-scans. She also practiced primary care optometry at a multidisciplinary medical center, Stanacola Medical Clinic. In 1990, Dr. Waguespack started her own solo practice where she particularly enjoys working in several specialty areas, including dry eye treatment, bifocal and special design contact lenses, glaucoma treatment, pre- and post-op laser vision correction, and low vision rehabilitation. Dr. Waguespack is board certified by the ABO.
Dr. Waguespack is therapeutically certified in the treatment and management of ocular disease. She is a member of the American Optometric Association (Contact Lens and Cornea Section and Low Vision Section member) and Optometry Association of Louisiana and former liaison to the Southern Council of Optometry.
A native New Orleanian, Dr. Waguespack attended St. Joseph Academy on a full academic scholarship and graduated Valedictorian and Outstanding Senior. She went on to major in psychology at the University of New Orleans, compiling a perfect 4.0 grade point average. She next attended the University of Alabama in Birmingham/School of Optometry where she received a Bachelor of Science in Physiological Optics and Doctor of Optometry graduating summa cum laude in 1980. She is a member of the International Optometric Honor Fraternity Beta Sigma Kappa.
Dr. Waguespack has lived in Baton Rouge since 1980 and has one son who graduated from LSU. She enjoys jazzercise, strength training, reading, good south Louisiana cuisine, singing with Sweet Adelines and traveling. She also enjoys LSU sports and has become an ardent supporter and “alumni by choice.”
