Dr. Brett Carlin is a native of New Iberia, Louisiana and graduated Valedictorian from Westgate High School. He then went on to receive his bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from Louisiana State University. After graduation, Dr. Carlin relocated to Houston, Texas where he earned his Doctorate in Optometry from the University of Houston College of Optometry.
Dr. Carlin completed a Clinical Externship at the South Texas VA Hospital in San Antonio, Texas where he gained experience in treatment of ocular injuries and diseases including glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, neurological disorders, traumatic brain injury, and many other conditions. He then went on to complete another Clinical Externship at Acadian Vision Associates in Lafayette, Louisiana where he trained in primary eye care, contact lens fittings, co-management of pre- and post-surgical patients, as well as treatment of ocular disease. Dr. Carlin is national board certified in the treatment and management of ocular disease and state board certified glaucoma specialist.
He is also a member of the American and Louisiana Optometric Associations.
In his spare time, Dr. Carlin enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, traveling, and attending art museums and plays.
